In February 1980, President Jimmy Carter issued the first Presidential Proclamation declaring the week of March 8th as National Women’s History Week, commenting on “the achievements, leadership, courage, strength and love” of the women who helped build the country. In 1987, Congress passed Public Law 100-9, which designated March as Women’s History Month. Each year since the President has issued an annual proclamation of this designation and the National Women’s History Alliance selects a yearly theme. The theme for 2022 is “Providing Healing, Promoting Hope.” Access article HERE.
